Marquette entertainment venue still recovering from last year’s closures

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – Entertainment venues are still climbing to reach normalcy months after the governor reopened non-essential businesses.

Superior Lanes Entertainment Center in Marquette Township reopened their doors December 26. Manager and mechanic, Terry Kirkum, said they only had one customer all day that day.

He adds that business didn’t start picking up until February, when indoor dining resumed. Even then, he said it wasn’t as busy as pre-pandemic turnouts.

He said he is unsure about the summer season.

“Still not quite back to normal, but we’re heading that way,” Kirkum said. “Of course, now we’re heading into the summer, our leagues will be over this week and our summer is our slow season.”

They ask everyone to sign in upon entry and customers must wear masks at all times inside the building. When choosing a bowling ball, the staff asks that everyone wears gloves, but they do not have to wear the gloves while bowling.
